I had a conversation with a CIO last week that stuck with me.

They'd just come from a board meeting where cybersecurity was on the agenda for the third quarter in a row. Not because they'd had an incident. Because the board had read the news and wanted someone to reassure them.

The problem is that reassurance isn't a strategy. And "we haven't been hit yet" is not the same as "we're protected." What I'm seeing across our clients is that the organizations getting this right aren't necessarily spending more, they're spending with more clarity about what they're actually defending.

That clarity is the hard part. It's also where we spend most of our time. If your board is asking questions and you're not sure how to answer them, that's exactly the conversation I'd want to have.
